Sir Ian Bauckham CBE
About the Speaker
Sir Ian has worked in education since graduating from Cambridge University. He has led MFL departments and run a sixth form. He was headteacher of a large 11-18 Church of England comprehensive in Kent, rated as outstanding by Ofsted in 2012. He is currently CEO of Tenax Schools Trust which runs two Teaching School Hubs and trains teachers as a SCITT. He has held a number of national roles in education including leading reform of Relationships and Sex Education, Modern Foreign Languages and the Initial Teacher Training Market. He has been Chair of Ofqual since 2021, and is interim Chair of Oak National Academy ALB. He has been closely involved in the reforms to teacher professional development including the ECF and the new NPQs. He was made a CBE in 2017 for services to education and was knighted in the 2023 New Year’s Honours.
Session Information
Sir Ian has a vantage point in the education system which gives insight into accountability, exams, professional development and inspection, amongst others. In this opening talk, he will share those insights with us as we turn our eyes to the future and help us prioritise our plans for the near future.
